Same-sex marriage? God forbid! (I)
YOU will observe that one of the major topics of debate currently going on at the National Assembly is whether or not to legislate against “Same-sex marriage”, called “same-sex prohibition Bill for an Act of Parliament.” And of course, members of the Nigerian public have been invited to contribute to the on-going debate before passing it into law: hence this write-up. What is meant by same-sex marriage? Why is the practice condemnable? And what is the cure for same-sex marriage victims?
Definition: The New International Webster’s Comprehensive Dictionary of the English Language (Encyclopedic edition 2004) gives the following simple definitions: (1) Homosexuality means sexual attraction toward persons of the same sex, or sexual relations (or intercourse) between persons of the same sex. For instance, a homosexual is a man sexually attracted to another man. (2) Homosexuality among women is also known as lesbianism. Thus, a lesbian is a woman who is sexually attracted to another woman. (3) Sodomy refers to a carnal copulation between male persons or with beasts, while bestiality also refers to sexual intercourse between a human being and an animal — a character or conduct befitting only brutish beasts. These are unnatural forms of sexual perversion, which are most detestible sins in God’s sight. Meanwhile, we must not lose sight of the other forms of lewdness or sinful sex such as fornication and adultery.
Causes: Some of the major causes of sexual immorality are traceable to the presence and effects of sin in the world, caused by Satan whose avowed passion is always to pervert and bastardise all of God’s creation (I John 3:8,9). Lack of moral training at home and in school, peer pressure, bad examples by parents and teachers, neglect due to broken homes, abject poverty, smoking, drinking, and general moral decadence in the society, account for very many forms of lewdness in the Nigerian society.
Same-sex marriage is a taboo to our culture (both Nigerian and African). It is a clear demonstration of warped thinking by the mentally sick men and women who most probably had been misled into joining bad gangs of those with phobia for the opposite sex, to choose unnatural and satanic methods of trying to consummate God-planned sexual enjoyment.
