Who dumped these lunatics in Ibadan?

Share

LIKE any other day, the inhabitants of Olorunda Abaa, in Lagelu Local Government, Ibadan, Oyo State, some weeks ago, woke up only to notice the presence of mad people, roaming about in the area.

The insane people, though not armed, comprised of both male and female, young and old, going about and begging for arms, whenever they feel like.

Uncomfortable with the presence of the insane people in the environment, the inhabitants of the area informed Wakabout, that their presence was becoming an embarrassment.

The bike man that took Wakabout to the area was the first to confirm the report, before Wakabout got to the place and further confirmed the report.

The bike man said: “I travelled, came back to see our New Year visitors in Olorunda Abaa. On inquiry, my people said they have not doubt that they were brought from a neighbouring state and dumped in the area, in Ibadan.

The bike man, Kazeem Araloye (Kazzy) added that such a thing had happened before that Lagos State government packed and dumped beggars, lunatics and thugs in the state.

The insane people were seen roaming the streets from Idi Ape down to Olorunda Oja and its environ, while making the premises of the MDG’s Conditional Grants Scheme 2008 Rehabilitation of Primary health Centre, PHP, their resting place.

The door of the primary health centre was locked, while Wakabout’s findings revealed that the door was only being opened once in a while.

One of the clinics around the place where the lunatics did rest, could be best described as an abode for reptiles, hoodlums, among other things that are harmful to the society.

Madan Atoke in a chat with Wakabout said in a typical Ibadan dialet: “Onweroyin, e ba wa bejoba ki won wa ko awon panti ti won ko wa ihahin o. Olorun lae be won o, kan ye so’Badan dile da were, onbaara atawon toogi si o (meaning, reporter, help us implore the concerned state government to come and pack the insane people it brought to Ibadan. It should stop making Ibadan a dumping ground for lunatics, beggars and thugs).

Another young man that spoke with Wakabout also expressed the believe that they were dumped in the area by a neighbouring state government.

The  presence of the lunatics could be harmful to the inhabitants of area, hence, it is expedient on Oyo State government to urgently rise to this occasion and get the lunatics off the streets.
