ANGRY father Jane Say pleaded guilty at the old Bailey on 8th December, 2011 to murdering daughter Regina eight, and son Rolls, 10. The retired concierge and part-time football steward originally from Ivory Coast West Africa, spoke only to enter a formal guilty plea.

Say slit his children’s throats while they slept and then rang his ex-wife saying “I’ve killed your children” she dialled 999 sending police and paramedics racing to the property. He then called her again saying “come and get their bodies” in broken English,  he accused her of calling him a "raper" and reporting "anything bad about my life."

Both children had defensive wounds on their bodies indicating, they tried fighting off their father. Rolls also had ghastly antemortem injuries to his head, indicating they were inflicted while he was still alive. On getting to the scene, Detectives found Say sitting calmly beside the bodies of his children, who had been dead for several hours. Before the killings, those who saw Say described him as courteous and well-dressed, a loner, not very sociable and very secretive about his children but did not appear homicidal or depressed.

A day before killing Regina and Rolls who were on one of their normal visits, Say had received an eviction notice  from his solicitors stating that as he was not living with his wife and children, he was no longer entitled to a three-bedroom  property. Hours before the tragedy, both Say and his estranged wife were on Facebook playing games.

A rational mind knows there is no logic in killing your children and to kill them in cold blood is inconceivable but Say’s vindictive nature made him slaughtered his children out of spit because his wife left him, and he claims Antoinette insulted him on Facebook. He told a 999 operator after the killings: "She kill my dignity - I warn her". The couple both from Ivory Coast met in 1997 while Antoinette worked at the Ivory Coast’s Embassy in London. Mr Say pretended to be a businessman and the unsuspecting Antoinette believed his lies. He also kept secret he had two children with two separate women in France.

They married a year later in Southwark, but separated due to domestic violence. On one occasion, neighbours had to call the police after hearing screams coming from the couple’s flat in Southwark, South-East London. Antoinette went on to divorce her husband. She was granted sole custody of the children and moved out with them to Holloway in North London, but the children still visited their father.

Say kept threatening Antoinette. The confrontations got physical and she was hospitalised by him. She reported the attack to the police and got an injunction to stop him threatening her but was unwilling to press charges.  Being violent and possessive is second nature for Say. It has emerged that he had been violent to other women in his life. He once punched his pregnant girl friend in France so hard in the stomach that she lost the baby.

The same woman went on to have a daughter with him but after repeated beatings and constant rape, she fled. He tracked her down and held a knife to his daughter threatening to kill them both. The frightened woman got down on her knees and begged him till he stopped.

Say faces a mandatory life sentence but the judge, Justice Cooke will fix a minimum term.
