CAN you imagine the level of effort that a chimpanzee will put in, to be able to earn a degree? Can you imagine the kind of effort it will need to put in to win an election as local government chairman? Its nature determines its limits. Similarly, there are some positions your character won’t let you get to, your efforts notwithstanding.

People capitalise so much on efforts in their quest to making the most of their lives. They have invested so much time into learning principles that will enhance their output through calculated input and efforts, but these have not yielded as much results because their nature has placed a limit on how far they can go.

Think of an arrogant man; any time there is a position of honour in his place of work and he is being considered for it, his boss will say, “Well, he is a good man, hardworking, very competent, but too proud— forget about him.” Although he is competent and very qualified for the vacant position, he has become a victim of his negative nature. His make-up has hindered him from being promoted.

Another person may be a very brilliant mechanic but a cheat. On making inquiries about giving him a car to repair, someone who knows him will say, “He is untrustworthy, forget about him.” Because of his nature, the job eludes him. Your make-up will always place a limit on your advancement in life (Matthew 7:16-20).

What you are is far more important than what you do. So, it is important to pay attention to what you are. Joshua 1:6 says: Be strong and of a good courage... To be strong does not mean physical strength; it means to “be strong in character and be courageous in doing the right.”

Friend, it is never late to be right. You can’t have a good nature and not produce good result. Your quest for success begins with a re-engineering of your nature, so, you can change your order of results. Speaking about Jesus, the greatest man who ever lived, the Bible says, He went about doing good. His good nature produced a future for Him. You can have His kind of nature too, when you are born again.  

Are you born again? You can do so, as you confess your sins and accept Jesus as your Lord and Saviour. If you are set for it, please say this prayer: Lord Jesus, I come to You today. I cannot help myself. I am a sinner.  Forgive me my sins. From today, I accept You as my Lord and my Saviour. Thank You for saving me!
