Malhotra explained that cheque remains an important method of payment in Nigeria and for businesses to be able to process payment quickly and efficiently, they require cutting edge technology to ensure that cheques are read as accurately and efficiently as possible.

He listed the efficient and sturdy Canon Scanners available in the market as the CR55 Compact cheque scanner, an imageFormula 190i high volume cheque scanner.
According to him, the compact reliable low-cost CR55 Compact cheque scanner, designed for desktop scanning in financial organisations, retailers and large corporate organisations, scans up to 55 cheques per minute.
He explained that the imageFormula CR-190i is a versatile scanner that can process cheques, deposit slips, envelopes, vouchers and coupons. Using a combination of Magnetic Ink Character Recognition (MICR) and supported by Optical Character Recognition (OCR) technology.
He said the imageFormula CR-190i, has enhanced features including high speed production of up to 190 cheques per minute in batch scans of up to 250 documents at a time. It is one of the few scanners with a 4-line automatic imprinter and capable of printing bitmap images to scanned cheques.
