A member of the executive management team of Mouka Limited, Engineer Emmanuel Obinna Eze, has been awarded the National Productivity Order of Merit Award (NPOM) by the National Productivity Centre in Abuja. Eze was nominated for the award for his creativity, innovativeness, technical expertise and broad background in polyurethane melding, rigid foam and polyurethane processing technologies - as well as being a strong advocate of team building and leadership by example.

Engineer Eze has worked in various organisations within the polyurethane industry before he joined Mouka Limited where he rose to become the head of operations, with the responsibility for production and technical expertise across all the plants nationwide.

Speaking on behalf of the president, the Minister for Labour and Productivity, Chief Emeka Wogu said productivity was a driving force for economic development and if approached faithfully, could ensure the prosperity of the entire economy.

He said productivity has an essential role to play in  national growth, through the application of human knowledge and skills to improve lives.

The National Productivity Day was inaugurated with the aim of instilling productivity consciousness and excellence in service delivery in workers, in both the private and public sectors, and also to accord workers and organisations due recognition for hardwork and innovativeness.

The individuals who were honoured with the award were carefully nominated via a panel of professionals from across diverse aspects of the economy. This panel, from the public and private sectors, included dignitaries from the Presidency, Federal Civil Service Commission, Nigeria Employers' Consultative Association, Manufacturers Association of Nigeria, Federal Ministry of Finance, Nigerian Stock Exchange, Nigerian Labour Congress and the Federal Ministry of Labour and Productivity.

The event, which was held in Abuja, recently, played host to top governmental officials as well as corporate chiefs from all sectors of the economy. Chief Emeka Wogu, the Minister of Labour and Productivity and Hon. Innocent M. Agbo, the Chairman, Governing council, National Productivity Centre, graced the occasion, as well as representatives of top government officials.

Mr Emmanuel Eze expressed his gratitude to the National Productivity Centre for recognising his achievements. He promised the centre that he would be a worthy ambassador and that he would ensure that he remains at his very best always. He also thanked Mouka Limited for giving him the wonderful platform to excel, saying that the company’s achievements transcend Nigeria.

For over five decades, Mouka has been manufacturing top quality mattresses, sheeting, pillows, polyurethane blocks and other foam materials for domestic and industrial use. The success of Mouka in the Nigerian market is buoyed by the great talents that it has in virtually every section of the organisation.  According to the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Mrs. Peju Adebajo, the success of any organisation is a function of the skilled talents that it has. Mouka factory currently has the largest single plant in West Africa and the Mouka promise is to add comfort to life by delivering durable and quality products for the West African market.

The company currently has three factories, in Lagos , Kaduna  and Benin . The  Lagos factory is equipped with a total of five production lines, consisting of three continuous lines and two discontinuous lines. The first two continuous production lines (Canon Viking) Maxfoam have a capacity of 175 Kilos of PU foam per minute, while the Benin factory has a state of the art continuous production line (Laaderberg) with a capacity of 400 kilos of PU foam per minute supplied with a continuous CO2 line, which is the first and only in Nigeria.

Complementing the high capacity recycling plant is a semi automatic block foam processing machine and several cutting and converting machines which allow Mouka to meet all the requirements of its customers.
