NIGERIA'S Women U-17 team, the Flamingoes yesterday at MKO Abiola International Stadium, Abeokuta, defeated their Kenyan opponents by 3-0 in the second leg of FIFA Women U-17 qualifier.

This completes the 5-0 routing of the Kenyans who had earlier lost the first leg 2-0 at home in Nairobi two weeks ago.

The match watched by a large crowd including the Deputy Governor of Ogun state, Segun Adesegun and the state's commissioner for sports, Gbenga Otenuga, saw the Nigerian team delaying the goals until the second half.

It took Nigeria 61 minutes to break the deadlock when Badiahwotexxy Kesigna opened scoring for the Flamingoes. Yetunde Oluwatosin Adeboyejo made it two for Nigeria in the 70th minute. Kesigna made it three on the dot of 90th minute to book the next round date against Zambia.

However, it was not all-rosy for Nigeria on the day as Adeboyejo got the referee's marching order for unsportsmanly behaviour.

Meanwhile, Kenya's head coach, Frederick Masiserenge, insisted he played against an overage team.

''We said it in the first leg, and I repeat it here that the Nigerian team is not an U-17 team, they are older than U-17,'' he said in a post-match briefing.
