Zambia targets win over E/Guinea

ZAMBIA said they want to win Group A of the 2012 Africa Cup of Nations by beating co-hosts and leaders Equatorial Guinea Sunday in Malabo.

Second-placed Zambia, on four points, must beat Group A leaders Equatorial Guinea on six points to top the pool and return to Bata to play in the quarterfinals.

A draw though would be enough for Zambia to join Equatorial Guinea in the last eight.

Coach Herve Renard said his top priority is to win on Sunday and finish top of the group.

Ambitious Zambia were forced to use only half the training pitch in Malabo Friday night due to poor lighting just hours after landing on the Island from mainland Equatorial Guinea.

Renard took the team for an hour and a half workout at the match venue of Estadio de Malabo training ground just after 20:00 South African time.

The training facility right next to the main stadium is not fitted with flood lights for night training.
