House of Reps rerun: PDP chieftain warns INEC
The chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party in Oyo North Senatorial District, Alhaji Yakubu Oladoja, has warned the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC)not to allow itself to be used by the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) to deprive the people of Irepo/Olorunsogo/Oorelope Federal Constituency of their mandate.
Alhaji Oladoja, who alleged that the ACN has concluded plans to connive with INEC to deregister eligible voters in the seven units where elections have been rescheduled to hold in the constituency, in a bid to deny the people of their mandate, urged the INEC not to allow itself to be used by desperate politicians.
He further urged the constituents to stay alert following threats by ACN members to win the House of Representatives election by “all means,” saying that with the clear cut figures with which the PDP was already leading in the election, it was apparent that the people were resolved to have Hon. Jimoh Afees as their representative.
“I want to commend INEC for the role it played in the last election, while also warning the commission to be careful of the antics of the ACN. In the first instance, we had to travel this road due to the negligence of INEC in omitting the name and logo of the Democratic Peoples Party (DPP). INEC should therefore not allowed itself to be used to work against the people,” he said.
