Poly Rector lauds Ajimobi over proposed technical university

THE Acting Rector of The Polytechnic, Ibadan, Mr Adebisi Adeniran, has given kudos to the Oyo State governor, Senator Abiola Ajimobi on the proposed upgrading of The Polytechnic, Ibadan to a technical university.

The acting Rector gave the kudos, while speaking at the opening ceremony of a 3-day orientation programme for the newly admitted students of the institution for the 2011/2012 academic session recently.

The acting rector commended Professor Oladapo Afolabi, the chairman of the governing council of the institution, the immediate past Head of Service of the federation, for his keen interest in the development of the institution.

“The Polytechnic, Ibadan is indeed lucky that the governor appointed a person of the calibre of Professor Afolabi as the chairman of the governing council of the institution,” he said.

Speaking in the same vein at the occasion, both the Acting Registrar of the institution, Ms ‘Tomi Olatunji and the Dean Students Affairs, Mr Bayo Oyeleke admonished the students to always be of good behaviour, as they stressed that the award of the certificate of the institution is based on both moral and academic performance.
