Makeup lesson 101

Share

YOU’ve always coveted those celebrities flawless make-up, right? You may have even tried out some techniques with no satisfaction what-so-ever. Ok, stop fretting girlfriend, here’s what to do.

First off, you’ve got to know that a make-up needs a good canvass, a perfect one. Therefore, before you go ahead to mix those colours, you need to prime your face first. And how do you do that? Simple.

Know your skin type and treat it accordingly. Then do the following (before you apply your make-up, that is).

Cleanse your face everyday
INVEST in a cleanser, toner, moisturiser and facial scrub made for your skin type. A facial scrub will help you re-move dead cells on your face to reveal glowing and youthful glow. Cleanser will help you re-move dirt that ordinary soap cannot reach while toner will remove dirt the cleanser couldn’t get to. Believe it or not, you need moisturiser (even if you are battling acne) for that face of yours after all the cleansing so as to retain the natural moisture your face is blessed with. Beside, moisturiser is a good primer for your make-up foundation. Use cleanser and toner twice daily, but be careful not to use a wrong product on your face to avoid break out and peeling. You will also need to use your scrub, only every few days so as to avoid scrubbing off too much skin.

Eat properly
Ever heard the expression “You’re what you eat before”? Therefore, eat balanced meals. Eat fruits and vegetables. Three servings of fruit and five servings of vegetables are great for your skin. And try as much as possible to avoid foods with caffeine and sugar. Do less greasy foods and red meat too.

Drink plenty of water
Try to drink 8 glasses of water, everyday. Water is a great way to detoxify. Green/herbal tea is also good.

Wash off your make-up
Every night before you go to bed, no matter how tired you feel, take off any make-up on your face with make-up remover. Although washing alone may do the trick. If you are in your 30s, use night cream.

Sleep
It is mandatory to keep your eight hours of sleep every night. It will help you prevent big dark circles.

If you follow these steps daily, your body will thank you for it. Next week, we’ll talk about how you can steal the show with your make-up application. Keep a date.
