In July 2011, Beloved Apostle Bimpe (nee Fayose) was informed that she only had six months to live because she was suffering from breast cancer. However, Apostle Bimpe, rather than being consigned to a hospital bed or cancer treatment centre, is waxing stronger. In an encounter with WALE OJO-LANRE in her London home, she bares her mind on the stigma she is facing and what is keeping her alive.

YOU seem to be unperturbed about your situation, what is the source of this confidence?
The cancer is an issue in my flesh, but I have found grace to live above the dictates of the flesh. Judgment against my flesh does not have the capacity to break me. I am of the spiritual, though I live in the terrestrial. I am not controlled by the laws of the flesh.

Is it true that your situation has attracted pity from many people and that you were bombarded with prayers?
It is very natural for people to pray for people in afflictions, regardless of the sincerity of their hearts. However, my God is showcasing me for His kingdom. So, I have been telling my friends, family members and other concerned parties to rejoice rather than labour in prayers for me. They should thank God for me because He chose me to show forth His glory.

I don’t entertain people that pity me. The truth of the matter is that many people, even the so-called Christians are shallow minded. They only see the hands of the devil and believe that everything that is not pleasant comes from the devil; hence they prefer to curse the devil rather than celebrate God for what He is doing.

Maybe they pity you because they believe the cause of your cancer is not natural.
Only fools think that principalities attacked me. Even principalities are praising God for me. I don’t beg God to live. God considers it righteous for me to live since he still needs me here. Breast cancer is only a defect in one’s body that came as a result of the curse on Adam and Eve.

You don’t think it was an affliction from men or a spell was cast on you?
I am blessed by God. Can any man curse who God has blessed? I am blessed beyond any curse. Even principalities know that I am far above their strength. People should wake up from the foolishness of the mind and enhance their thoughts with the living words so they too will enjoy what I am enjoying now.

You must have fasted seriously and visited spiritualists over your situation.
God forbid. I have not for once gone on my kneels for God to extend my life. Why would I fast to live? I know I am for signs and wonders. Believe it or not, I don’t go on hunger strike that people call fasting.

Many spiritualists contacted me to offer healing. They asked for sugar, salt and living things. One referred me to some popular priests and pastors, and as usual, I preached the true gospel to them and reaffirmed my faith in God. All these made me  to know what people go through in afflictions. How thieves take advantage of people’s challenges to milk them dry in the name of the Lord. Why will I beg God to keep me alive.

What has been the disposition of your friends and family members?
I have enjoyed an overwhelming support from my family members. As a matter of fact, I have never felt the essence of belonging to a family like this in my life. My friends all over the world gave me a sense of belonging through their attitudes. Now, I know that it is good to love and harvest love in return.

It is six months after and you are still not bed-redden, what is the secret?
What brings permanent joy and peace into one’s life is change by the word of God.

I mean the doctor gave you six months to live but  it appears you are not in pains now. 
Unfortunately, many who say they are believers refuse to embrace change that the words of who they say they believe prescribe. What has happened in my case is that I have allowed the teachings of Christ to affect my life and living. Long before I became aware of my situation, the foundation of my healing had been rooted in my obedience to the commandments of God. My prayers were answered long before I knew about my prognosis.

Have you been taking medications and what have you been doing?
Yes. I got the direction in spirit to reject conventional treatment which was not even programmed to cure me but elongate my life for few months. Rather than live and die young in a pitiable state, I followed my mind to change my diet.

What are those things you embraced and those you threw away?
They will be published in my book.

Why do you want to publish the book?
Mine is a testimony of the faithfulness of God that cannot be swept under the carpet and it must be put together. Again, there are specific messages I received for mankind in my death status in July and documenting them will save multitudes around the world. Many who say they are Christians connect with Christianity for bread and butter reasons and to use the name of Jesus to fight their enemies.

What are these specific messages about? Is it about cancer, Christianity or what?
The book will bring the Scripture alive in readers and boost understanding of the written word, the Bible, spiritual cancers, purpose of Christ’s coming, practical faith and commanding healing and prosperity in God’s will.

Some pray in ignorance,some pray to decieve, some pray to carry their followers along to think they are fighting battles. But there is really no battle to fight because the battle of life is of the Lord once we surrender our living unto him. Those who stick to their guns often discover much later that they had been foolish. We are like passengers in a flight; we dont even know of the encounters of the pilot while we eat, wine, watch movies, and dine on board. So, believers ought to have peace in Christ .Whenever there is hiccup, we should settle our minds on the instructions of the pilot to seat and fasten our seat belt.

But how do we fight spiritual battles that are not fought with bows and arrows?
Believers in the truth need no arrow or bow. Spiritual battles start with having controls over thoughts and desires and the readiness to obey God. Except you live by obedience to the simple commandment of Christ, you cannot overcome challenges.

Let all believers boycott their pastors for a while and study the scriptures individually. Then,  they will know their follies and their souls will crave for righteousness in godliness, rather than righteousness according to ‘my pastor’.

If you eventually succumb to cancer, what will be your greatest regret?
As for my children, they are the heritage of the Lord in my care. I don’t have to be alive for them to make it in life. My restoration was not because of my children. Many are alive and even having the privilege of living as daddy and mummy, yet their children are in prison, some are robbers, and some are drop-outs. With or without my living, it will be well with my children.

What should be the disposition of a person diagnosed of cancer and how should we relate with people suffering from cancer?
Live in the attitude of appreciation and praise God regardless of the situation; always look for something to celebrate; keep up your spirit with life-giving words and erase the thoughts of your enemies from your system completely.
