Attitude, altitude, aptitude and gratitude(II)

Share

LAST time, we began looking at the importance of attitude. We saw that our attitude determines our actions and that our attitudes are formed based on the facts we allow to have residence in our hearts. Our attitude is extremely important as it affects everything we do.

Our attitude determines our altitude. Altitude is vertical upward direction. Our attitude will determine how far and how high we will go in life. Attitude is like a rocket – if it is good it gets fired up to takes us farther than we can imagine. If attitude is wrong our life will be like a rocket that is not fired up to take off – it’s potential to reach unimaginable heights will just lie fallow.

If our attitude in finances is wrong it will determine how far we will go financially. If our attitude to people and relationships is wrong it will determine how far we will be able to go with people. A wrong attitude in any area of life will do us in and hinder us from reaching the zenith in that particular area. A man with the right attitude to life will never get caught in the quagmire of discouragement, frustration and will never throw in the towel in the pursuit of his dreams. He knows failure is an educational incident and all he needs to do is to learn from his pitfall and move on with life. A right attitude will always fire one up with enthusiasm and hope.

Attitude also determines our aptitude – our competence and how much we will be able to do. Our attitude will determine our output. When we have the right attitude we will be motivated to put in our best in whatever we do. A right attitude will empower us to get all the resources we need to make our lives to count. A right attitude increases our aptitude – it will put the go on our feet in the pursuit of our dreams. A man with a great attitude will do whatever is legitimately necessary to increase his input. He will be open to new ideas, he will be hardworking, he will acquire the right team, and he will have an appropriate strategy to see his dream is effectively executed. A right attitude empowers our aptitude in the sense that we will have the right attitude that will power us to apply our abilities effectively to the execution of our dreams.

Attitude also determines our gratitude. If our attitude is faulty we are not likely to be grateful. When a man has a wrong attitude he will never appreciate what he has. He will always focus on what he does not have and undermine what he has. An atmosphere of ingratitude is an atmosphere of gloom- there is always an air of dissatisfaction, regret and pessimism in the air.

Gratitude has a way of motivating us. When we are grateful for where we are and for what we have we create an atmosphere of joy and enthusiasm. You know that for you to be where you and to have what you have that means there is a potential and possibilility of you getting better.

A right attitude is a fundamental key to making our lives count. No effort must be spared in ensuring we cultivate a good attitude in every area of our lives.
