FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup: Flamingoes begin campaign

Share

BARELY two months after Nigeria's Women U-20 side, Falconets put up an impressive performance in Germany, the country's U-17 side, Flamingoes will today begin the quest to conquer the world as the FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup kicks off in Trinidad and Tobago.

The Nigerian side will join fifteen other countries in vying for the title and the team will begin the journey today with a Group A match against Democratic Republic of Korea.

Playing against a team fom Asia in any women's tournament is always a big hurdle which means that the Peter Dedevbo-tutored ladies will have their hands full as they hope to kick start their campaign on a ggod note.

However, only few Nigerians are aware that the Flamingoes will be on duty in the Carribean country due to poor build up to the championhip, a development that makes the team a complete outsider as far as picking favourites for the tournament is concerned.
