PRESIDENTIAL ambition of Sani Ahmed Toro for the leadership of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) in the forth-coming election, last Friday, got a boost as the Bauchi state Football Association has endorsed his candidature, just as he throws spanners into the works of acting NFF boss, Alhaji Aminu Maigari.

"Acting NFF President, Aminu Maigari, as well as Maigari Joji, did not attend the meeting while another member of the Association is dead, that was the reason why the number is twelve pointing out that the decision is binding on all the members irrespective of their opinions.

Nine out of the thirteen members of the FA at an extraordinary meeting held at the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa Memorial Stadium endorsed Toro's nomination form based on what was described as his positive contribution to the growth of football in the country over the years.

Spokesperson of the Association, Zubairu Sani explained that the decision to endorse the aspiration of Toro was informed by the need for effective and positive representation of the state at the topmost level of football administration in the country.

Zubairu Sani  further said that, “we decided to use democracy in the endorsement process in line with the directive of the NFF electoral committee which directed that where there are more than one aspirant from a state, democratic method should be used to select one of them as the committee will not entertain more than one candidate from a state.”

He then disclosed that two of the members, All efforts to get the reaction of the other members of the Association who did not participate in the meeting proved abortive as Aminu Maigari was said to be out of the country to Germany for the ongoing U-20 Women World Cup while Maigari
Joji could not be reached.
