King’s associates threaten to sue Katsina Prisons

Share

Aggrieved members of the family of detained Reverend King, the General Overseer of Christian Praying Assembly, have threatened to drag the Katsina Prisons authority to court for allegedly denying them access to King.

In a letter addressed to the Katsina State Controller of Prisons and signed by Bako Nasiru of ABK and Co Faratu Chambers, on behalf of the family, the family decried the alleged denial of access to King and urged the authority of the Katsina Prisons to allow them access.

The family warned that failure to respond to the letter, within seven days, would leave the family with the choice of seeking legal redress in a court of law, as, according to them, their fundamental human rights were being threatened by the prison authority who denied them access to their mentor.

According to the said letter, the denial of access was a contravention of regulation 42 of the Prison Act CAP 29, which states that a convict shall be allowed visit from friends and family members.
