Amaechi promises to link Ogoni community to the state
The Rivers State government has announced that road would be constructed to link Daen Community in Ogoniland to the rest of the state.
Rivers Governor, Mr. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, who visited the area on Saturday, mandated the Ministry of Works to immediately commence the process of awarding the contract.
The governor said the construction of the road must begin at the end of the rainy season, noting that “government has no reason to allow the community to be separated from the rest of the state.”
Amaechi, who made frantic efforts to enter the community by alighting from his car and walked for several meters, had to stop at “Maayae” stream, which made it impossible for him to enter into the community.
Governor Amaechi then reaffirmed the commitment of his administration to improving the quality of lives of the people through the right application of resources of the state, saying he believed in moving out to see for himself, the true situation of things, and not to take decisions based on hearsay.
