ShareParents have been advised to treat their children with care and affection so that they could grow up to be useful to their society.

The advice was given by the President, North-Western Nigerian Union Mission of the Seventh-Day Adventist Church, Pastor Joseph Adebisi Ola, at the special Children’s Day Programme of the church held at the Seventh-Day Church, Oke-Bola, Ibadan on Saturday.

Pastor Ola, who described children as “the owners of today and tomorrow,” decried the manner in which parents and the society at large maltreat them, identifying street hawking and the habit of  keeping children too long in the church as some forms of child abuse.

While referring to passages in the bible that emphasize the need to care for children, he admonished parents who neglect them for their careers and blamed social vices by children on lack of parental care.

Highlights of the occasion were the unveiling and dedication of the children’s newsletter entitled ‘The Royal Diadem’, recitation of hymns, songs and memory verses on wisdom from the bible.

The theme of this year’s children’s day programme of the church was ‘Wisdom From Above’. Share
