The matriarch of the Yar’Adua family, Hajia Dada, has left the seat of power in Abuja without seeing her son, ailing President Umaru Yar’Adua, who was relocated to Nigeria in the early hours of February 24.

Sources confirmed to the Sunday Tribune that Hajia Dada left Abuja late on Friday and headed for Katsina.

It was gathered that the matriarch of the Yar’Adua family was disappointed that she could not ascertain the true state of her son’s health.

But a source said that the woman insisted in messages she left behind that her son must be relocated to Katsina to allow the family take proper care of him and seek further spiritual help on his condition.

Upon her arrival at the Villa late on Wednesday, it was gathered that the Chief Security Officer to the President took charge of security and restricted access to the area.

Sources confirmed that soldiers were made to take over most of the vicinity of the area occupied by the Yar’Adua family in the villa.

Another source said that  the matriarch of the Yar’Adua family was prevented from seeing her son on the pretext that he was still susceptible to opportunistic infections and that his doctors had advised him to remain in isolation.

It was also gathered that the handlers told the President’s mum that she needed to wait for the importation of an equipment which would ensure that the President could be seen and communicated with through a transparent glass.

Sources said that the woman was distraught when told of the need to continue to keep Yar’ Adua’s in isolation and that until the said equipment arrives, nobody can gain direct access to him.

It was gathered that the old woman refused to talk to anyone for a long time after being told that she cannot see her soon. She was said to be devastated on hearing the news that she had to wait a little longer to see her son.

“She continued only to mumble things in Hausa and the only thing people close to her could discern was that she wanted her son to be relocated,” a source said.

The source said that contrary to reports that Yar’Adua would soon bounce back, the situation had not improved in any way.
