Pastor Adeboye’s bombshell: If 2011 election is rigged, we’ll fight

Addressing millions of worshippers at this year’s Holy Ghost Convention at the RCCG Camp, along Lagos/Ibadan express road on Friday night, the cleric said, “If anyone tampers with our votes in 2011, we will fight.”
He added that not only would the people physically resist any attempt to deprive them of their right to elect their own leaders, they would also resist same on their knees through prayers, calling down fire and brimstones as well as the wrath of God on whoever tried to rig the election.
Adeboye called on both the chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Professor Attahiru Jega and the government to ensure that the votes of the electorate were allowed to count in the ensuing elections.
He said for the country to experience genuine peace and progress, the electoral wishes of the people must be respected and allowed to find expression.
He counselled the INEC boss not to allow himself to be used by anybody for the perpetration of any evil, adding that it would not be in Jega’s interest to forfeit the love and respect that the majority of Nigerians had for him.
The RCCG leader asked members of his congregation and other Christians to ensure that they register so as to be able to participate in the 2011 elections.
His words: “Christians should vote. They should have an input in the determination of who rules over them. It is not enough to pray; we should also participate in elections. We should not just fold our arms and expect a change. We must participate to effect a change.”
He also called on members of his church not only to vote but to also protect their votes.
