MAN has been found to be uniquely insatiable. The problem becomes more glaring when a person is not a good practising Christian. There are different perspectives in life. It is therefore not easy to please every man who will always explain situations from a subjective position.

Life experience
Life experiences have shown that even when you do anything good to help or please some people, if they are biased or hate you while trying to offer help, your actions will be wittingly or unwittingly misinterpreted. Examples abound in the Bible about this kind of human life experience:

a.    Joseph’s experience
Young Joseph, by divine arrangement, found himself in slavery in a strange land, Gen. 37:18; 28. While trying to maintain the high integrity required by his God, by refusing a free offer of enjoyment that was sinful, he was portrayed as a rapist, leading him from one captivity to another (prison). Gen. 39 : 7 – 20.

b.    Moses’ experience
Moses was born in the land of captivity in Egypt. Like Joseph, by divine providence, he was brought up in the palace of the Egyptian king, Ex. 2:1– 10.

When Moses grew up, he preferred identification with his suffering people to the Egyptian palace enjoyment Heb. 11 : 24 – 25. When he offered himself to assist his people, he was called names that portrayed him as an impostor and murderer. The situation actually forced him into self-exile. Ex. 2 : 11 – 14.

c.    Jesus’ experience
When Jesus was on this earth, doing good to all men by healing them and providing for both their physical and spiritual needs, through series of unprecedented miracles, He was portrayed as being an agent of Beelzebub, the prince of the devil, Mt. 12 : 22 – 24.

This experience of life is captured by the following view:
If a man runs after money, he is a materialist. If he keeps it, he is a capitalist. If he spends it, he is a playboy. If he doesn’t get it, he lacks ambition. If he gets it without working, he is a parasite. If he gets it after a life of hard labour, he is a fool who got nothing out of life.

Life is not a bed of roses. That one lives a life that conforms with the expectation of God and high integrity, does not mean that he will be accepted or seen from the good perspective of his action by everyone.

However, at the end, one will find out that in spite of this, it pays to maintain high integrity. The later end of the people in the examples above shows that one cannot regret life of high integrity because the ultimate judge is the Almighty God.
