Olubukola Grace  Awoyemi came into limelight when she played the lead role in Tunde  Kelani’s award winning movie, Arugba. The  University of  Ilorin Performing Arts graduate who hails from Eruku in Ekiti Local Government of Kwara State,  in this interview with Glamour in Lagos, penultimate Wednesday, speaks on her fashion preferences. Excerpts:

Definition of style.
WELL, my definition of style is the ability to create. It is creating what you can call your own without looking at anybody and having people copying what you have created. I believe in originality. I don't like anything that is fake and that is one of the reasons I like designers. And when I want to use African fabrics to create stuffs, people should be able to say, she knows what she is doing. She has made a fashion statement. My fashion watchword is, dress with your dignity intact. You do not have to lose your pride or dignity in a bid to look good.

Beauty regimen.
I wake up in the morning, have my bath, I don't necessarily make up all the time. Where I am going and what I want to do determine my beauty regimen to an extent...  I use Mary Kay foundation, Black Opal powder, Mary Kay Signature lipstick and eye pencil. Sometimes, I don't wear make- up because I noticed that people prefer me without make- up. Most times, people say that I look prettier without make- up. However, I love wearing make-up not because I want to see it look good on me but because I just love playing with my hands. I use my roll on and perfume and that is it.

Favourite designers.
Steve Madden, and Chanel for shoes, for my bags, I love Marc Jacobs, Gucci and a host of others.

Choice of accessories.
I like beads but not all the time. Really, my choice of jewellery depends on what I am wearing and where I am going. I love chandelier earrings, sometimes, I go for simple accessories and at other times, I go for sophisticated ones.

Accessories I cannot do without.
It depends on where I am going, if I am going for a casual outing, I can go without my accessories, I don't care if anybody is looking at me. I choose not to make accessories my God, by believing that if I don't use them something bad will happen to me.

Favourite perfume.
I don't have a particular one because when it comes to perfume, I can enter a shop with the intention of buying a particular  one but on getting there, I might see others whose smell I like and go for them. The one I am using now is Paco Romani.

Favourite colour.
My favourite colour is green because it is an alluring colour. It has to do with nature and vegetation. It is symbolic and it has to do with positivity and I think that is why it is one of Nigeria's colours. I love it.

Fashion icon.
I don't think I have any. I create my own things.

Opinion on  toning.
Well, I'm sorry but it disgusts me, it annoys me when I see ladies tone. I wonder why they believe they have to bleach or tone to look beautiful. Like what I said about style, it has to do with you, your ability to project the image you want people to see. I'm black and proud. I have never wished to be fair in complexion. If you believe in yourself then people will accept you for who you are. We have great black people who have really, really made it big. I think women just need to rediscover themselves and know who they really are and what they really want. You don't have to look like somebody else, the best person you can be is yourself.

On cosmetic surgery.
No, no, no! I am very okay with the way I look so I would not want to change anything about myself. I However, if I want to be slimmer, all I need to do is watch what I eat and do some exercises which I do every morning and night. I don't want to die young, abeg.

My take on provocative dressing.
That is another thing I don't like. You don't have to expose that special thing that God has given you to impress anybody. There should be something hidden about you, there should be something that will make people curious about you but if you have revealed everything for everyone to see then, there is nothing spectacular about you anymore. Why should you make them see everything? Let them see your beautiful face, let them see your beautiful shape in a well sewn clothes, you can show your figures but you don't have to reveal your boobs. You are not impressing anyone with that, to me, I feel you are disgusting to people. Modesty, dignity, self esteem is highly important in a woman's life.

Secret of beauty.
Na God. He made me so, He is the secret of my beauty.

What I won't be caught dead wearing.
I can't be caught tying only a wrapper because to me, that is almost the same as being half- nude. Also, anything that will reveal my boobs, count me out.

Special treat.
I hang out with friends, go out to eat and stuffs like that.

Hair and nails.
I like fixing my nails, make them look good and I love having bright colours on my nails, sometimes red, sometimes green. I do pedicure and manicure. For my hair, some times, I like braids and when I want to look different, I use lace wig. Majorly, I love looking African.

The craziest  thing I can do for fashion.
I could go shopping from morning till night. I remember the last time I went to  US I went shopping with my cousin who is not really a fashion conscious person and she just left me in the shop. She was mad and said, “What the hell are we buying for crying out loud. I could do shopping from morning to night. I once went shopping with a friend and left when they were locking up. It is crazy you know!

Advice to young girls.
Eat good food. Don't eat too much and do a lot of exercise. Use good cream on your body and don't overuse yourself in anyway, you know what I mean.

Relaxation.
I'm not really an outgoing person so when I am not on set, I am indoors watching movies, listening to music and maybe hanging out with friends.
