Keys to a growing marriage! (IV)

Share

MARRIAGE is one of God’s most wonderful gifts to mankind. It is a treasure worth working on, cherishing and sustaining. Last week, I discussed on the key of submission, which extensively helps the wives to effectively grow their marriage to God’s standard.

This week, I dare to speak on the Mutual Obligations of both the husband and wife, as a key to successfully grow their marriage to be what God preordained it to be.

I’ll start by saying a healthy romance between a husband and wife makes for a healthy home and growing marriage.  Romance is a great facilitator of a successful marriage.

When a home stops being romantic, it starts to suffer devastation.

The moment a husband stops desiring his wife, he is already falling apart from her, and vice versa.   God’s Word says: Nevertheless, to avoid fornication, let every man have his own wife, and let every woman have her own husband (I Corinthians 7:2).

The word “have” doesn’t only mean to marry; it also means let him enjoy his own wife.  Therefore, rendering “due benevolence” means to give him/her the benefit of marriage, which is your body.

God put in a man a sexual desire, which should only be satisfied in marriage.  That way, the desire will not be destructive.  A sexually inactive marriage is heading for destruction.

When a husband starts speaking in tongues when his wife needs him, he is courting trouble, and vice versa.  This is where, I believe, some Christians have opened the door to trouble in their homes.  The man is not available for his wife, so she looks somewhere else.  The wife is not available for the man, so he goes somewhere else, because the burning must be satisfied.

What the devil does is to sometimes use seemingly legitimate reasons, such as job opportunities, to separate couples.  Whatever moves a man from his wife is Satan’s way of luring them into adultery.  He wants to draw them out of their Garden of Eden to the wilderness, so they will become wanderers.

Money does not make a home; obedience to God’s Word as illustrated in this piece is what does.  That is why in pursuit of money, many people have disregarded this important factor and teamed up with Satan to ruin their home.  Your home shall not be ruined in Jesus’ name.

Grace to oblige to this mutual obligation between husband and wife for a thriving growing marriage, is the benefit of those born again. To become born again, you have to genuinely confess your sins and accept Jesus as your Lord and Saviour.  If you are ready for this sweet experience, please say this prayer with me: Dear Lord Jesus, I come to You today as a sinner. I believe You died and rose on the third day for my sins.  I accept You as my Lord and Saviour.  Make me a child of God today.

Congratulations!  You are now born again!
