ONE important step in securing God’s help is to see to it that you pray to Him with all your heart. Effective, fervent prayer is a way of connecting with the help of the Lord. That may involve going aside for a retreat somewhere so that you may focus your prayer very properly. It may involve some days of fasting. It may involve joining with other prayer warriors in true agreement, as Jesus our Lord taught us (Mathew 18:18-20). It may involve staying in the presence of the Lord, refusing to quit, until He answers your prayer (Luke 18:1-8). Whatever it takes for you to pray through to receive the help of the Lord, do it. The Bible says that “the effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much” (James 5:16).

To connect with the help of the Lord, you have to learn to pray through to victory. Pray serious prayer. Pray strong prayer. Pray violent prayer. Pray warfare prayer. Pray prayer that gets results. May the Spirit of grace and supplication rest upon you in Jesus’ name (Zechariah 12:10). You also have to serve the Lord with all your heart and all your soul. Serve Him by obeying the word of His command. Serve Him by winning souls to Christ. Serve Him by paying your tithes, giving your first fruit and your generous offering to support missions and worldwide evangelism.  Serve Him by building the house of your God and raising His altar wherever you can.

The help of the Lord is made available to you so that you may serve Him acceptably, effectively, and productively. If indeed your heart is willing and ready to serve the Lord, He will pour His help upon you in amazing ways. He has said in His word that if you will obey and serve Him, He will make you to spend your days in prosperity and your years in pleasure (Job 36:11). He promised that if you serve Him with all your might, then He will bless your bread and water, and keep you healthy and strong, free from every form of sickness and disease (Exodus 23:25). He promised that if you will truly serve Him, then you will not serve your enemies, but rather you will have dominion over all your adversaries (Deuteronomy 28:47-48). Those who truly served Him found His help. If you too will truly serve Him, He will help you indeed.

All who truly served the Lord prospered greatly because they were helped by God. That was what happened to David, Paul and several others.  Now it is your turn. Serving the Lord should henceforth be your priority. It is a gateway to sure divine help. If you do, you too will prosper beyond words.
