‘I was dazzled by her beauty’
While speaking with Conjugal Affairs shortly after they were pronounced husband and wife, 'Yemi disclosed that, "after we became friends and we started talking about intimate things, I discovered that she is a good Christian and coupled with the fact that she is a beautiful lady, I decided to make her mine.
"I didn't have a problem with the fact that we were not from the same tribe but she did. She said that she needed to check if that is what God is saying (that they should be husband and wife) and if it would be fine with her parents. It didn't take us long to overcome the challenge because God showed the father through a vision that we are meant for each other."
'Yemi said that once Chinapple, as he fondly calls her, eventually made up her mind, "I discovered that she is someone who is committed to her family and who wants to build her home and that is very important to me.
"I feel very happy today and I have a big expectation. I'm aware that marriage is a good thing because the Bible says" He who finds a wife finds a good thing and obtains favour from the Lord." I believe God has gone ahead of us and is coming to back us."
Chinyere on her own part said, "she felt blessed and honoured to have 'Yemi as her husband because he is a born again Christian and good looking. The word of God is his last command and he is very thoughtful.
"Before I could get a personal conviction on the tribe issue, it took God to intervene likewise godly counsel. After scaling through that hurdle, the next one was family. My parents said no to a Yorubaman but God being who He is and doing thing in His own way, today we’ve had a break through
For Chinyere, the fact that both of them work in the same company was a plus for their relationship. “We go to work together, we see each other everyday of the week, this has helped us to be very close to each other. We've been able to build not just a relationship but a friendship as well.”
'Yemi and Chinyere walked down the aisle at Latter Rain Assembly Church, Lagos on Saturday, November 6, 2010.
