2012: A year of vengeance - Olorunsola
ARCHBISHOP Nathaniel Olorunsola’s prophesies are known among many in Ekiti State to be overtly controversial, but they are often very accurate. Recently, he predicted the death of Chief Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu. Before then, he had spoken of the removal of both former Governors Ayo Fayose and Segun Oni of Ekiti State. This made him somewhat of a controversial (albeit household) name in Ekiti State and among many other people from other parts of the country. Yet, he is unrelenting and has kept publishing his revelations and has stored them in books, a path he has been treading for over two decades.
Olorunsola’s Living Christ Gospel Church (Aladura) in Ado-Ekiti does not come readily to mind to the people of Ekiti State, not even to commercial motorcyclists. But a mention of Ijo Natha erases that, as the church is more commonly referred to, which literally means Nathaniel’s Church.
His zeal to get his prophesies through to the public via a publication entitled “Revelation Book with Prayer, 2012 edition” ignited some curiosity. He had made the revelations public during the 2011 edition of Ijo Natha’s Annual Miracle Chapel Anniversary (AMICAN 2011). He had been on local radio television stations, charging people to pray and avoid evils associated with 2012.
“Many people have been destroyed, frustrated to death by life’s problems as a result of lack of knowledge, direction and enlightenment. This revelation book exposes all the evil plans of Satan in 2012 and how to overcome them through prayer and instructions from God,” the cleric stated.
The major highlights of the revelations for the year are compartmentalised. They are divided into months; the various states of the federation, the Yoruba nation, the Igbo nation and the North. There are also revelations for theatre practitioners and musicians; politicians, politics and elections; traditional rulers, the clergy, prominent Nigerians and even the Federal Government.
For the Yoruba nation, the cleric listed some well-known leaders of the nation who would pass on in the year. According to him, notable traditional rulers, a popular prophet of the Christ Apostolic Church (CAC), a national Islamic leader from the nation; leader of a prominent Yoruba cultural organisation; a notable female market leader in Lagos; popular Anglican cleric and a former governor of Lagos State would pass on in the year.
For the various states in the Yoruba nation, the prophet said the people of one of the states should pray against “the sudden death of their governor or sudden collapse that could take him to overseas for treatment.” He also said he saw the death of an immediate past governor of one of the states; and the death of a former governor in another. There is also the revelation of the demise of a Second Republic governor and that of a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) who was also a one-time Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice.
The cleric also stated that the cry against it notwithstanding, the Federal Government would go ahead with the removal of subsidy on petroleum products, adding that “yes, things would be difficult for a period of time but in the end, the nation would be the better for it.” He added that Nigerian workers would smile in the coming year.
The revelations are not all of frightening dimensions. He said he saw “merciful provision for the people, uplift, prosperity, blessings and abundance.” He called for open revival and prayer in Oyo and Edo as well as other states. The man of God also listed various prayers for the months of the year which, according to him, would help avert the evils as he saw them.
