Kwara CJ’s tenure extended

THE Executive Governor of Kwara State, Dr. Bukola Saraki has on the recommendation of the National Judicial Council, approved the extension of the appointment of Hon. Justice Olatunji Bamigbola as the Acting Chief Judge of the State.
The extension of the Acting appointment is in accordance with the provisions of Section 271 Sub-section (5) of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
In a letter conveying the recommendation of the extension to Governor Saraki and endorsed by the Chief Justice of Nigeria and Chairman, National Judicial Council, the request was granted by the Council in accordance with the provisions of the Constitution.
Dr Saraki had earlier written to the Council to request for extension of the tenure of Justice Bamigbola, whose acting appointment in the first instance is expected to last three months.
It would be recalled that Justice Bamigbola was swore-in as Acting Chief Judge of the State on Monday July 13, 2009.
