FORMER Chairman of the Shooting Stars Sports Club, 3SC, Elder Bode Oyewole, has called on the state government to fulfil cash and landed property pledges to the team for winning mate both the 1998 League  and WAFU Cup titles.

Compol Amen Oyakhire, then the Military Administrator of Oyo State,  announced the pledge of N3m for the Chairman of the board, N2m each  for Boardmembers, N1m each for players and officials as well as a plot of land for each of  the contingent  all at Dairy Milk, now Kolapo Ishola GRA for winning the two trophies.

However, not only is the cash pledge unfulfilled, the Certificate of Occupancy for the gifted land, according to Oyewole, was revoked by the succeeding State Government.

Now, Oyewole told Saturday Tribunesports that the heroes of that year haggle him over the unfulfilled package.

''I was in Europe sometime in the year and one of the players, Leye Akinde accosted me in London, to ask me of the promises.

Also, Andrew Aikhomougbe, who is living in reduced circumstances in Egypt, once saw me and demanded that I help in getting the reward for them. Officials of the team, home or oversea, are not relenting, either,'' said he.

Oyewole expressed the hope that the state government under Senator Abiola Ajimobi, is inclined to remedy the situation.

''I believe we have a man who addresses perceived injustices and who can calm the situation. A big team like the Shooting Stars are made to live up to promises. I believe this government can do it.''

Attempt to speak with the state's Commissioner for Sports, Dapo Lam Adesina failed as his mobile line was switched off when his reaction was sought.
