THE competition got off to a flying start with South Korea claiming the first two world records of the Games.

Im Dong-hyun, who is legally blind, broke his own individual record for 72 arrows and joined Kim Bubmin and Oh Jin-hyek to set a new team mark for 216 arrows - smashing the world record by 18 points.

The 26-year-old Dong-hyun has 20/200 vision in his left eye which means he needs to be 10 times closer to the action than someone with perfect sight.

Speaking earlier this week, the South Korean said: ''I don't have a stick, I don't have a blind dog. ''It's unpleasant when people say I'm disabled. All this interest in my sight is not welcome.

''With my vision, when I look at the target, it looks as if different colour paints have been dropped in water. 'The boundaries are not that clear and the lines between the colours are very blurred.

''I've practised using glasses before but actually it makes me feel less comfortable when I shoot.’
