Nigeria Unfair To Me -Okagbare

Share

TOP sprinter, Blessing Okagbare, has lamented that Nigeria has not deemed it fit to appreciate her for winning the long jump bronze medal at the 2008 Olympics in Beijing.

The Delta state-born Okagbare, who is one of the medal hopefuls in the forthcoming London 2012 Olympics, disclosed this while speaking in Lagos, after the just concluded 18th African Senior Athletics Championships in Porto Novo, Benin Republic.

"I could remember vividly that since I won the bronze at Beijing Olympics, Nigeria has not done anything for me till date. They did not even call us together and say, you have done well for winning a bronze medal.

"I still have a little bit of that memory in me and I want everybody to know that my country did not appreciate me for winning a bronze medal at the last Olympics. I have put that episode behind me though. "It is nothing to me because it does not change Blessing Okagbare.

I have been competing ever since then and I will always try my best for my country," Oka-gbare, who won the silver medal in Porto Novo in 100metres said.
