THE Technical Adviser of Niger Tornadoes, Justine Tenger, has advised Nigerian referees to have a change of attitude in the handling of the game.

Speaking with Tribunesports after the outcome of the week five of NPL games between his team and Sunshine Stars of Akure at Gateway International Stadium last Wednesday. He described the match as an embarrassment due to the unprofessional manner in which the centre referee, Barrister E. Oboh from Akwa Ibom State handled the match and therefore called for a change of orientation insisting, “There can be no light at end of the tunnel for the Nigerian football if things continue this way.”

“He continued, “I am not in the habit of joining issues and complaining about referees because I know that they are human beings and can makes mistake, but what that man did in Ijebu-Ode was a huge embarrassment to the NRA, it is better imagine than experienced,” he noted.

“Honestly, the NRA has a lot to do towards sanitising the profession to get some recognition outside the country. Some bad eggs must leave the affairs of the game because we have some highly disciplined and sincere ones who can fly country’s flag anywhere.” When challenging them to make this year’s league as one of the best in terms of officiating, he admitted that what is happening to our football is the reflection of the general lot in every aspect of the society, stressing, “we have the duty to ensure that things are done right because we must tell the world that we can do it.”
