Chairman Nigeria Premier League (NPL), Victor Rumson Baribote has identified poor funding and fraud as the bane of the Niigerian league.
Similarly, former commissioner for sports in Lagos State, Prince Adeniji Adele said the league is in big problem due to lack of some ingredients.
Both men gave their views in seperate interviews monitored on the Federal Radio Cooperation of Nigeria (FRCN) during the week.
In his own submission, Baribote argued that if the league could be well-funded, it has what it takes to rank amongst the best in the world.
He stated that money gained from television rights if well managed added to sponsorship fees were enough to make the league bouyant.
However, Adele in his own view, believed that non-availability of basic facilities were contribu-ting more to the falling standard of the league.
According to him, lack of facilities like television-friendly stadia are the major problem confronting the league, stating that if this particular area was not addressed, sponsors will continue to shy away from bankrolling the league.
