Maigari Commends Heartland, Tornadoes

Newly elected President of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) , Alhaji Aminu Maigari has commended Nigerian flagbearers in both CAF/Orange Champions League and WAFU Cup, Heartland and Niger Tornadoes respectively for their brilliantly outings last weekend.

Maigari who spoke from his Bauchi base, said that he was particularly excited that Heartland ended its winless run in the lucrative competition to raise hope of semi finals berth.

“Last weekend’s victories of Heartland and Niger Tornadoes were glorious baptism for the new board and Nigeria in particular. We are happy that Heartland finally broke the jinx against Ismaily,” he said.

Meanwhile, ex-international, Patrick Pascal has admonished Nigerian football administrators to give the Aminu Maigari led Executive Committee total support for it to succeed.

Speaking in Bauchi, the chairman of Wikki Tourist football Club said that all the warring factions of the Nigerian football stakeholders should imbibe the spirit of sportsmanship by rallying round the new board.

“In the spirit of sportsmanship, I want all the candidates in the last NFF Elections to burry their hatchet and supports the new leadership. Alhaji Aminu Maigari, the new president has what it takes to take Nigerian football to a greater height. We will should all do now is to support him,” he said.

The Atlanta Olympic soccer gold medalist also charged the new leadership of the NFF to carry along all the stakeholders while reaffirming his belief in the future of the game in Nigeria.
