COACH Samson Siasia, who was widely tipped to soon take over Nigeria’s Super Eagles, has kept sealed lips after the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) announced the job will now be advertised.

Last month, the immediate past NFF executive committee opened discussions with Siasia over succeeding Lagerback on a four-year deal.

However, only two members from this board were returned to office following last week Thursday’s polls.

MTNFootball.com reporters sought Siasia’s comments on the latest development, but he simply refused to be drawn into making any comments.

“No comments,” said Siasia, who was in the company of his Dutch sidekick, Simon Kalika, at the Nicon Luxury Hotel in Abuja Thursday evening.

Kalika flew into the country at the weekend probably in anticipation of Siasia being named the new Nigeria coach.

He has assisted Siasia at two FIFA Under-20 World Cups as well as the 2008 Olympics. He was expected to do same with Siasia as Eagles coach.

Interestingly, Kalika also worked with caretaker coach, Austin Eguavoen, when Nigeria finished third at the 2006 Nations Cup in Egypt.

This week, Eguavoen endorsed Siasia for the country’s top coaching post.

But now with the shock NFF announcement that a new coach will only be named on October 1, the former international defender is expected to be in the saddle for a little longer as the Eagles travel to Guinea on October 10 in continuation of the 2012 Nations Cup qualifying tournament.

Former Eagles assistant coach, Stephen Keshi, has also expressed interest to handle the national team.

Keshi was head coach of both Togo and Mali, even qualifying Togo to their first-ever World Cup finals four years ago.
