Like Jeremiah during the difficult times experienced by the Jews, he cried aloud that because of Israel, he would not keep quiet. There are obvious reasons for a concerned Nigerian, particularly a true Servant of God, to wish to keep quiet most unwillingly.

The major reason being the fact that both the led and the leadership seemingly do not listen or want to listen, for reasons best known to them. The seeming obstinacy might be because the curse in Isaiah Chapter 6 is yet to run its full course! But at the same time, there are causes for a concerned Nigerian to have a valid reason to determine to make his voice heard whether or not people are willing to listen. It is for this reason I have invited you and it is our sacred duty to let Nigerains hear what you have heard in the hope that someone would listen and act without being a maximum ruler!

The nation on the precipice
There is no other time than now for us to admit that all is not well, all pretences  notwithstanding.  We are steadily approaching a cross-road and the omens are everywhere. Sweeping our  problems under the carpet is rotting but self-deceit. This will lead us no where and the sooner we appreciate this, to find an enduring solution, the better for us all.

Sometime ago, I urged the appropriate authorities to unravel why the captured Boko Haram  leader was extra-judicially murdered! It is gratifying that some steps were taken to this  effect albeit - a- not-too-far reaching attempt, maybe because there was no ‘enough political  will.’

The Boko Haram menace is gradually assuming a dangerous dimension and Nigeria sooner or later  may join the league of topmost terrorist countries with adverse far reaching socio-politico-economic consequences.

I still find it difficult to ever imagine that the so called Boko Haram sect are not  masquerading as events seem to be suggesting. I seem to think that the brains behind could be  politically - biased elites in our country who are yet to come to terms with the winds of change which took us by surprise in 1999 and which was temporarily stopped in 2007 but re-emerged in 2011.

Is the Sharia episode and the Islamic Bank unnecessary controversy and the current Boko Haram saga mere coincidence? Only a high power judicial (not administrative) enquiry can unmask  the “whys” and “whos” and “hows” of all these. I hope we will not help the prediction of the imperialists.

What is happening seems a replica of what occurred at the onset of the OBJ administration  in 1999. Why was there no move to set up an Islamic Bank in 2007? Where were the “Boko  Harams” in 2007?

I will be happy if this is a mere coincidence! Is the onset of Goodluck  Jonathan administration an unacceptable interruption of born to rule mindset or mentality?

The Boko Haram insurgency is not a religious problem because Muslims faithful abhor maiming and killing of innocent persons. Let’s beam the searchlights on those who think the present dispensation would cut the supply of juices they have been enjoying since 1960.

Judiciary
This is the best time for this arm of government to solve its problems and avoid spilling the  beans. It should not fall into the hands of the political class. I will continue to pray for this arm of government so that we do not drift. Mr President needs an independent and courageous judiciary to enable him sleep with his two eyes closed.

Constitutional amendment
Members of the National Assembly cannot give us “a people constitution” because debates  are naturally bound to be politically partisan. It would be naive to think otherwise. It is just like expecting politicians to pass a legislation that would make rigging devices impossible!

We have now reached a stage that we need to convene a national conference of all Nigerian nationalities to sit down to decide how we wish to co-exist as Nigerians of one nation by  mutually agreeing on how to be governed. Is it a Unitary Government as we currently patently practise or true federalism with greater empowerment of our resource control residing with states as we did when Nigeria was three regions ‘or a confederation so that  each unit can develop at its own pace. A forced marriage will get a nowhere.  Alternatively, although not the best, each state could elect on zero party basis fifteen  delegates each to meet as a “constituent assembly” to fashion out an enduring constitution “of the people by the people”.

The 7-year single tenure proposal
Nigeria does not need this luxury of a political master piece because it may create more  problems. Is Mr President going to support elongation of his current tenure from 4 years to 7  years or he would decide to stay beyond 2015, for a single term of7 years till2022? If Mr. President would have his name written in gold like Nelson Mandela, he should leave in 2015  to play a non partisan umpire role for a worthy successor which should not come from his  party. He has to be courageous to do this. I am aware the PDP is allegedly aiming to rule not for  the next 60 years as previously expressed, but forever! Let me say this, it will not be in charge come 2015.

Trial of Asiwaju Tinubu
If I were Mr President, I would take a political decision to terminate this ongoing trial  because its continuation will make a hero out of Tinubu and give the rampaging ACN more  venom, contrary to political calculations in some quarters, continuation of Asiwaju Tinubu’s trial is not in the best interest of the ruling PDP. I hope somebody is listening.

Infrastructural decay
There is decay everywhere. Go to our international arrival of our airports. Take Murtala  Mohammed International Airport, Ikeja for instance, see the out - modeled conveyor belt and  the untold hardships suffered by arriving passengers. You wonder if there is in charge a  Minister presiding over a disgrace!

Electricity is virtually non existent and we want manufacturers to operate with diesel  powered generators. Is government unaware of what the situation is in countries like Ghana?  At 51, where is Nigeria?

Corruption
The government’s first assault on corruption should begin with stamping out extortions at all  various road blocks and the very serious dangers by the physical obstructions on our already  bad highways! Can the senior police officers passing through our highways swear on their  holy books that they are not aware? I want to believe that those at road block extortions are not  making returns!

Minimum wage
I wish Nigerian workers would appreciate that their problems are always compounded with general wage increase.  What they really need are subsidies in electricity, gas, kerosene, fueling of their vehicles,  generators, medical facilities, free or heavily subsidized education etc.  I hope the labour leaders would make a research into past general salary increase and come  out with alternatives to alleviate the workers’ sufferings because general salary increase  naturally give birth to inflation. Naturally end users of various services suffer at the end of  the day!
