DELTA State governor, Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan, on Friday, at the Olu of Warri’s palace ground, yielded to pressure by socio-political groups and the Senate President, David Mark, to contest for a second term.

He told a crowd that gathered at a reception organised in his honour by his kinsmen under the platform of Itsekiri Progressive Forum (IPF) that he had accepted the cross given to him to carry.

“It is a cross I have been given to carry. It is a cross that God will help me to carry,” he said, in response to clamour by the various groups to contest for a second term in office because of his performance in the last three years.

Setting the ball rolling, Chief Charles Ikomi, who read the address on behalf of the forum, reviewed the achievements of Governor Uduaghan, which ranged from road construction to education as well as human capital development.

He said the governor deserved another term in office to consolidate on his developmental programmes.

Senate President, Mark, in his address, said Governor Uduaghan should be given a second chance so that he could consolidate on his achievements, particularly uniting the various ethnic groups in the state.
