As Muslims in some parts of the world continued their protest over the film which blasphemedProphet Muhammed, the apex Muslim organisation, Jama’atu Nasril Islam (JNI) under the leadership of the Sultan of Sokoto, Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar, has called on Muslims to exercise restraint and emulate the holy prophet who lived a peaceful life with his neighbours.

The JNI, however, expressed shock at the film released on a social media, Youtube, aimed at belittling and derogating the holy Prophet.

A statement signed by the Secretary-General of JNI,Dr.Khalid Abubakar, and issued to newsmen in Kaduna, said “the film was offensive, disrespectful and unacceptable to Muslims and right-thinkiong people and was intended to arouse their anger.

“Muslims are enjoined to pertinently persevere for the sake of the Almighty Allah, the same way our reverred Prophet used to do whenever his personality is attacked by his foes.

“He was called all sorts of derogatory names and persecuted, but never revenged and forwarded his complaint to Almighty Allah for relief,” it said.

It added that “it is rather unfortunate at this time when all efforts should be geared towards peace and calm, some elements want to create tension by insinuating that non-Muslim interest will be attacked.”

It added that “we cannot afford any upheaval in this trying moment of insecurity our country is passing through. Therefore, all Muslims are called for restraint and perseverance.”
