Senator Kabir Marafa, representing Zamfara Central senatorial district in the upper chamber, has dispelled the insinuation that the present senate is a rubber stamp of the president, Goodluck Jonathan.

Speaking in an interview in his hometown at Yandoto, Gusau, he contended that the present members of the senate were men and women of impeccable character, patriotic and honest Nigerians, who were ready to serve their people at any cost.

According to him, this was proven when recently the co-ordinating minister of the economy and minister of Finance, Mrs. Ngozi Okonjo- Iweala, lampooned the House of Representatives for threatening to impeach the president over the non-implementation of the budget, and the senate rose to the occasion.
