The Chief Executive Officer of Ethiopian Airliners, Mr Tewolde GebreMariam, has reiterated the company’s vision of leading the aviation industry in Africa.

He said that the company’s newly acquired Boeing 787 was a push towards achieving the Vision 2025 it set two years ago.

Ethiopian Airlines is the second in the world outside Japan to acquire the technologically advanced aircraft.

GebreMariam told Saturday Tribune in an interview in Addis Ababa that, “this airplane is going to move Ethiopian Airlines to the forefront of aviation leadership around the globe.

“You don’t tend to hear stories in the western media about successful companies in Africa, but we have shown the rest of the world that we are a success story. Today begins the first day in a new era of flying for our passengers and brings us even closer to our vision for the future, Vision 2025,” he said.

According to him, the airlines’ mission was to contribute positively to the socio-economic development of Ethiopia in particular and the countries to which it operates in general by undertaking its corporate social responsibilities and providing vital global air connectivity.
