FCT Policemen On 24-Hour Standby

Share

All policemen in the FCT command have been placed under a 24-hour security surveillance for the period of the Sallah.

The FCT police commissioner, Mr. Ade Shinaba, who gave the directive said that the move was  in compliance with the IGP’s directive that air-tight security be mounted everywhere in the country.

According to him, the abolition of Sallah holiday for  the policemen became necessary in order to have enough men on ground in case of any eventuality.

Shinaba said that security has been mounted in all PHCN installation in Abuja, vulnerable and key points, recreational centres, as well as strategic areas to avoid any breach of peace.

He assured that adequate security has been provided for traditional and religious leaders, in order to enable them carry out their religious and traditional obligations.

On the circulation of text messages of bombings, the CP advises citizens to ignore such messages as the peddlers are mischief-makers, who want to cause confusion. He, however, said that police will not treat such rumour with levity, as investigations would be carried out on them.

The CP gave out three dedicated numbers in which the public can reach the police to report any suspicious movement. The numbers are 08061581938, 07057337653 and 08032003913.
