AS Muslims worldwide celebrate Eid El Fitr, the Kogi State governor, Captain Idris Wada, has urged Muslims in the country to imbibe the teaching of Ramadan and use the opportunity to pray for peace, progress and  security in the state and Nigeria in general.
  

In a Sallah message, Wada also congratulated Muslims for a successful completion of this year’s Ramadan fast which he said is one of the pillars of Islam.

The governor called for mutual trust among the people of different religious background, saying that it is only in an atmosphere of religious tolerance that peaceful co-existence can be achieved.

 “We will achieve nothing in an atmosphere of insecurity, mutual distrust, crisis and violence. I enjoin all of us, irrespective of religious beliefs, to pray to God for peace and progress of our state. There can be no meaningful development without peace. Our state is known for peace and anything that will affect or change this reality should not be encouraged. We must rise against any form of evil in our state,” he stated.

Wada urged the people of the state to be law-abiding, even as they celebrate the Sallah.

Meanwhile,  Governor Kayode Fayemi of Ekiti State has congratulated Muslims in the state and the country in general on the successful completion of the 30-day Ramadan fast.

Dr. Fayemi, in a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Olayinka Oyebode, also urged Muslims to use the period of Eid- el- Fitri to pray for Nigeria as the country battles to overcome its security challenges.

Governor Fayemi said in the statement that “it is only when peace reigns  that Muslims and adherents of other religions can contribute meaningfully to the social and economic development of the country and its component units.”

Fayemi also commended Muslims in the state for “their unflinching support for his administration through their prayers, counsel and robust participation in governance.”

He promised that his administration would not disappoint the people of the state in improving their standard of living and executing projects that would have positive bearing on their lives.

The governor charged Muslims to “allow the lessons of humility, sacrifice, love and selfless service to mankind learnt during the 30-day fast to continue to be their  guide in their daily activities.”
