A member of the House of Representatives, Honourable Tajudeen Abisodun Kareem, has said that full implementation of the budget holds the key to freeing Nigerians from the grip of poverty.

Honourable Kareem, who said this in a statement issued on Friday,  called on the executive arm of government to ensure 100 per cent implementation of the 2012 Appropriation Act in line with the demand of the House of Representatives, as it was the only thing that would placate the lawmakers.

The legislator, who represents Atisbo/Saki-East/Saki-West Federal Constituency, said embedded in the 2012 budget were mechanisms that would ease the burden of poverty on the generality of the people, adding, “We are in government to make life easy for the people. That is why the National Assembly ensured that we put in the budget programmes and projects that would improve the quality of life of our people. But this noble objective of the National Assembly would be defeated if the executive fails to release funds for the execution of the budget.”

Kareem, who is the House Committee chairman on Urban and Regional Development, assured Nigerians of the commitment of the House in fighting for the welfare of the populace through legislations.
