Share

THE Chairman of Board of Trustees of Motorcycle Transport Union of Nigeria, (MTUN) Autobike Owners Association of Nigeria, (AOWAN), Chief Jimmy Okonkwo narrowly escaped death, few days ago, when gunmen suspected to be members of a rival group attacked him at Ekwulobia in Aguata Local Government Area of Anambra State.

According to eye-witnesses, the incident, occurred two poles from one of the new generation banks where the victim had just withdrawn the sum of N3 million cash. Two Mitsubishi buses loaded with about 10 armed men blocked his vehicle, one in front, the other in the rear.

It was gathered that as soon as they succeeded in blocking him, they jumped down and some of them started firing guns in the air, while others forced the car doors open and allegedly used axes and cutlasses on him.

The source further hinted that while the attacks lasted, the hoodlums took N362,000 from his car door mat but as they struggled to open the car booth to take the N3 million which he had just withdrawn  a fast approaching police van forced them to flee.
