Edo State Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Friday formally filed a motion on notice at the state governorship election petition tribunal, withdrawing from an earlier petition challenging the declaration of Governor Adams Oshiomhole as winner of the July 14 governorship election.

The motion on notice filed by K.O Obamogie on behalf of PDP in the state asked for “an order striking out the name of the second petitioner from the instant petition is not desirous of prosecuting and/or maintaining the said petition.”

In a written address supporting the motion, Obamogie said “On the 2nd of August 2012, the petitioner filled petition No. EPT/ED/G/01/2012 at this honourable

tribunal against respondents seeking relief with respect to the governorship election held in Edo State on 14 July 2012.

“The second petitioner has now brought a motion seeking an order of this tribunal striking out its name from the petition.”

The Edo PDP also filed a notice of change of counsel, saying Barrister K.O. Obamogie would now replace Barrister S.O. Agwin-ede in any of its matter.

In a statement signed by the state chairman of the party, Chief Dan Orbih, and made available to journalists on Monday August 6, 2012 in Benin City, the PDP said the party would not be part of the petition filed by its candidate, Major General Charles Airhiavbere (retd), at the state election petition tribunal.

PDP should take role of Opposition and observe where developement is lacking

PDP should start working, making photographs of the worst area in Benin city and Edo state , so as not to give Oshiomole the chance of not cheating the people who voted for him because of his promises.Put oshiomole and his administration in a tight corner so that by the next election PDP will knockt out ACN because next election is not for ever and is coming very soon, so that charles a man of intergrity can rule the state in the next election . Charles should remove those bad eggs like igbinedion ,etc from the party and redefine the Edo PDP so that pdp becomes a party of Inergrity and not a party hated by edo state because of its corruption . Anyway a word is enough for the wise.
