The Ekiti State chapter of Hoteliers Association of Nigeria has said that it has made tremendous progress in its bid to reposition the hospitality business in the state. The association, which rose from its monthly meeting in Ikere-Ekiti recently, said the progress could be seen in the numerous feats it has achieved so far.

Speaking through its Executive President, Otunba (Dr) Jackson Kayode Ayeni, the association said part of the success story included the acquisition of an official bus for the association and the successful hosting of workshops and training for members, particular as it affects the issue of security.

According to Otunba Ayeni, the association enjoins members to be security-conscious and to monitor their lodgers and customers alike, while they were also urged to report suspicious movements or action to security agencies.  He added that members were also admonished to update and upgrade their hotels by ensuring qualitative service delivery to the people.

He used the occasion to express appreciation to the state government under Governor Kayode Fayemi for making the development of tourism as one of the cardinal points of his administration, saying he was sure this would rub off well on the association.

Otunba Ayeni also used the occasion to announce the pleasure of the association to host the South-West Zonal Hoteliers’ Association of Nigeria, which he said will be coming up next month at the Havana Motel, Ikere-Ekiti, Ekiti State.  Those present at the meeting included the vice-president, Evang Samuel Awe; secretary, Steven Abimbola; Financial secretary, Taiwo Omoniyi; Legal Adviser, Chief Micheal Osaloni and the PRO, Chief Korede Samuel, among others.
