THE Labour Party in Ondo State has submitted that the Action Congress of Nigeria’s (ACN) standard-bearer in the October 20 gubernatorial election in the state Chief Rotimi Akeredolu,  cannot vote in the election because he did not register in his Owo home town, ditto his media aide, Idowu Ajanaku, who hails from Idogun area of the state.

The Labour Party spokesperson, Koye Odogiyan, revealed this in a statement in Akure, yesterday.

Reacting to a report which quoted Akeredolu as referring to Dr Olusegun Mimiko as an alien in Ondo State, Odogiyan said the ACN can “afford to vomit any kind of lies because it has nothing to campaign with.”

He said it is unfortunate that Mimiko, who started his political career in the state  as a councillor in his local government, can now be referred to as a non-native after becoming the state’s number one citizen.

“It is unfortunate that the ACN’s standard-bearer and his spokesperson could expose themselves to public ridicule by insinuating that Dr Mimiko is a non native.

“Only a naive person would doubt the authenticity of Dr Mimiko’s origin after he had served the state as a councillor, commissioner, secretary  and a minister,” he stated.

Describing the vituperations of the ACN as the cry of a trashed politician, Odogiyan said “does it mean  Akeredolu   knew Mimiko was an alien, yet he joined the team of lawyers that battled in court to help him retrieve his stolen mandate from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to become the governor of the state?”

Insisting that both Akeredolu and Ajanaku are not eligible to partake in the October 20 gubernatorial election because they did not register in Ondo State, Odogiyan challenged them  to show their voters registration cards to counter his claim.

Akeredolu & his group are stakeholders in Lagos where they registered but masqueraders & sent puppets by their godfather puppetier leader of ACN. They will go the way of Tofa(against MKO in 1993) who couldn't vote in his constituency cos he didnt register! Ondo state know what to do with such by dumping them as garbages in d dustbin of history.

For any follower of ondo state politics,they will know it was d LP that stsrted this campaign of calumny,they were the ones who kade noise the most about some foreigners choosing the acn candidate without input from ondonstate indigenes.they went as far as sponsoring adverts and jingles in d media ,osrc tv and radio to rouse d people of d state about some imaginary foreign gods and invaders, even the governor himself made it a campaign slogan on tv that d state should bow to foreign gods, now that acn has dug up facts behind his parentage,one lousy odogiyan is making funny comments. Because he(mimiko) was a councillor,commissioner etc doesn't mean he is from ondo state,we(aborigines of ondo state)are liberals,we allow people to aspire. But a situation whereby an ebira man(mimiko) a foreigner of d highest order has d temerity to call bonafide ondo state indigenes aliens will not be allowed. He startednd whole issue,now is d time to account for his name. My good people of ondo state, unknowingly we have been serving a foreign labour(slave merchant) in d person of olusegun rahman mimiko a kogi man, NOW is d time to sweep him out back to d farm. Posterity, OUR children will not forgive us if we make the mistake again. Bye bye to d labourer. NB odogiyan defense is illogical,we know of many people who served as commissioners,ministers,house members in other states apart from their state of origin. So mimiko falls into same category. People like aganga,aregbesola,ajatta all served states differnt from their states of origin. Mimikos case is like dat. We thank him for d labour rendered so far, which we(ondo state people)have overpaid for. Let him leave in peace. Ire oooooooooo

The Ondo gubernatorial electioneering is fast becoming an exercise in triviality and innuendo rather than a critical appraisal of the major issues facing the State.
The issue of nationality is resolved by the question: Is Akeredolu a Nigerian with Nigerian passport? If he is truly a Nigerian, he should be judged on the trinity problem of corruption, tribalism and unemployment. Let's judge Akeredolu on issues rather than trivialities.

Either u like it or not olusegun mimiko is going to emerge for second time.That is the unanimous agreement of good people of ondo state.
