Ex-Senator’s Daughter Kidnapped
Unknown gunmen on Friday morning abducted daughter of a former member of the Senate, Nimi Barigha-Amange, Mrs Diepreye Dagi Darego, in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.
Diepreye, it was gathered, was on her way to the Port Harcourt International Airport, Omagwa, to receive her sister who was arriving in the city when the hoodlums attacked her, shooting at her vehicle.
Confirming the incident on the telephone, Senator Barigha-Amange said the hoodlums shot several times at his daughter’s car before they seized and took her to an unknown destination.
“My daughter, Mrs Diepreye Dagi Darego, was kidnapped in Port Harcourt today at about 9.00 a.m. She was going to the airport to pick her sister,” Barigha-Amange said in a text message.
According to him, the sister Diepreye went to the airport to pick up was planning her traditional wedding which was supposed to commence today in Bayelsa State.
He, however, said his daughter’s vehicle had since been recovered, but her destination was yet to be ascertained.
He disclosed that there had been communication between the kidnappers and his relations.
