Former Commissioner for Lagos Alhaji Abubakar Tsav (rtd), has attributed the problem of the nation to inconsistency of politicians who embark on movement across parties based on their selfish interests.

Tsav, who spoke to newsmen on the decision of the Nasarawa State governor, Alhaji Tanko Al Makura, not to abandon his party, the Congress for Progressive Change (CPC), and the party presidential standard-bearer in the 2011 election, General Muhammad Buhari (rtd), stated that it is rare to see politicians who, against all odds, stick to their belief.

He said that the nation would only witness growth and development when it is blessed with leaders with principles and not those who disguise as messiah of the masses while they are there serving their primordial interests.

According to him, “it is unfortunate that the present crop of politicians in the country are those who betrayed their parties and electorates for positions and material wealth and those who sold the North for peanuts on selfish grounds, those who, having come to power through the All Nigeria Peoples Party (ANPP), discarded the party for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to escape prosecution by Emperor Olusegun Obasanjo and seek relevance. It is a shame on them.

“I am happy we still have men and politicians of substance and integrity in the North, like Governor Al-Makura. All hope is not lost; if it were possible for our forefathers to come out of their graves and see what is happening to Nigeria they will be ashamed and beg God to take them back to their graves,” he said.

He regretted the dispute over a piece of land by the wife of former president, Hajia Turai Yar Adua, and the incumbent first lady, Mrs Dame Patience Jonathan, which he said was caused by the greedy political office holders all in the name of saving their jobs.

The former Police boss called for the attitudinal change by politicians for the nation to actualise its desired growth and for the electorate to have a better living.
