Flood: UK-based Oyo Indigenes Appeal To Ajimobi

Share

Oyo State indigenes in the United Kingdom have called on the government of Senator Abiola Ajimobi to as a matter of urgency give the clearing of drainages around the state and the demolition of structures obstructing waterways top priority in its bid to transform the state.
The call was contained in a statement issued in London by the association’s chairman, Mr. Ademola Alalade, while reacting to the recent flood witnessed in Ibadan, the state capital.

According to Alalade, the city was experiencing flood as a result of the filth that had engulfed the city thus leaving debris to be washed in to block drainages.

He said if nothing was done to stop indiscriminate dumping of refuse, flood would continue to wreak havoc in the city.

The chairman urged the government to prosecute anyone caught dumping refuse illegally, saying it was also important for the government to provide effective waste disposal system for the people.
