The five selected candidates for the post of the vice-chancellor of the University of Ilorin have been screened by the directorate of the State Security Service (SSS) in Kwara State.

The screening, it was learnt, was carried out between Wednesday and Thursday.

The candidates were expected to face the interview panel on Monday, following which three of them would be selected and their names sent to the president, who would then make the final choice.

The candidates are Professor Jimi Adesanya, Professor Timothy Opoola, Professor Luke Ayorinde, Professor AbdulGaniyu Ambali and Professor Hassan Salihu.

Meanwhile, a group of people under the aegis of Concerned Members of Alumni of the University of Ilorin has petitioned the selection committee over alleged manipulation in the award of scores to favour some interests in the race.

The petition, signed by Prince F.R. Aruwajoye and Alhaji M.O. AbdulKadir, chairman and secretary respectively, urged the members of the committee to call for the original manuscript, with which they initially awarded scores to the candidates.
